Carina Richards, LMSW, is a brilliant and incredible therapy associate with AMA. Her bright light helps illuminate the path to healing for her clients. Understanding that Murphy’s Law can strike at the most inopportune moments, Carina believes in the power of having the right tools and support to navigate these challenges, often with impactful results beyond our expectations.
As a Licensed Master Social Worker, Carina takes a holistic approach, considering one’s environment, community, support system, and self-interaction. She collaborates with clients to address the challenges they face on their journey. Carina’s mission is to not only provide the necessary support and education but also to inspire her clients to become the best versions of themselves.
Carina’s devotion is rooted in her Christian faith, striving to serve others as Christ served and treated everyone with the utmost dignity and respect. After earning her Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Louisville’s Kent School of Social Work in Louisville, KY, Carina relocated to San Antonio. Her choice of Texas was influenced by its military-friendly environment and deep respect for the Armed Services. As a proud daughter of a retired Army Colonel and granddaughter of a Navy Seabee, Carina felt a strong calling to work with Active- Duty Military and Veterans.
In her practices, Carina addresses a wide range of issues that many people face, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, grief, crisis management, crisis resolution, and PTSD. She understands the profound impact these conditions can have on one’s daily life and works tirelessly to help her clients develop effective coping strategies. Carina’s compassionate approach ensures that each client feels supported and understood as they navigate their mental health challenges.
In her role, Carina collaborates closely with Andrea M. Alvarez, M.Ed., LPC-S, NCC, a seasoned expert in OCD treatment and the Executive Director and Owner of AMA Behavioral Therapy. Carina is actively involved in working with clients struggling with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), committed to providing the most effective interventions. Together, she and Andrea are developing treatment plans tailored to the unique needs of her clients with OCD, utilizing evidence-based approaches to manage symptoms.
Carina Richards, LMSW, continues to shine brightly in her field, dedicated to guiding her clients through their healing journey with compassion and knowledge.
