Emily Garza, M.S., LPC, NCC

I believe in counseling’s ability to rework the ways we approach the chaos in our lives so that we can live with more harmony and enjoyment. I principally utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in order to challenge the flawed perceptions and beliefs you hold that are contributing to current difficulties. I also apply Person-Centered Therapy and Self-Compassion when working with clients, focusing on strengths and personal empowerment. I will assist you by collaboratively setting therapy goals, instilling mindfulness, and equipping you with the tools needed to sustain long-term progress. Counseling is an extremely personal process and it would be my pleasure to join you on your journey to discovering what your best life could be.

Ms. Garza is a National Certified Counselor (NCC) having earned her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Texas at San Antonio. While in her graduate program, she completed her internship at a residential facility for at-risk adolescent girls, where she worked closely in processing childhood trauma, leading crisis management, as well as teaching emotional regulation. Previously, Ms. Garza worked as an autism therapist at a national autism organization where she implemented behavior interventions based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Ms. Garza is currently under the supervision of Andrea Alvarez, M.Ed., LPC-S, NCC.
