I have spent the last 5+ years working in the mental health field as support staff for therapists and their clients. I originally entered the field of psychology as an undergraduate hopeful about doing research on child development. I was even a research assistant for the GROWTH Lab at UTSA that has a focus on research regarding child development. At the same time I was starting my job as an office assistant at a therapy private practice. It was life changing to be the first person someone talks to on their therapy journey when they called the office and then getting to see, even in just glimpses, the way therapy can change someone as they continue on. It was so impactful to have that direct connection with my community. From there I decided I had no choice but to change my trajectory and walk alongside members of my community on their mental health journey.
I have spent the last two years working closely with Andrea Alvarez, LPC-S, Owner of AMA Behavioral Therapy, PLLC as a member of the support staff. I have had the great privilege of getting to join her training with the amazing clinicians at AMA to learn about Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and the best evidence based practices for treatment. I also attended and helped organize the 2024 and 2025 OCD Texas Symposium which brought together so many amazing clinicians to understand more in depth OCD treatment. Since joining AMA I have become a passionate advocate for the OCD community and am excited to use this knowledge to help individuals with OCD more directly through affordable care.
My primary treatment focus includes OCD, Body Focused Repetitive Behaviors (BFRBs), LGBTQ+ affirming care, anxiety, depression, and grief in children, adolescents, and young adults. I also enjoy working with couples and families. My background includes an understanding of CBT, ACT, and ERP, which I use to provide evidence-based, compassionate care tailored to each client’s needs. I am especially passionate about supporting the LGBTQ+ community here in San Antonio and regularly stay connected through local community events. I also am a member of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma and hold cultural cultural humility and respect at the center of my practice. Whatever your background may be, no matter what challenges you may be facing, my goal is to create a safe, collaborative space where you feel supported, understood, and empowered to heal and grow.
